Something That Will Outlast Change
And I also realized that though everything had changed, that though wise men say the only constant is change, there is something that will outlast change, will outlast transience. And that something is hope – not for a specific, not for a certain way or means, but hope that is very deep, very basic, very private within us all.

For Every Problem
For every problem
Under the sun
There is a solution
Or there is none.
If there's a solution
Go and find it.
If there isn't
Never mind it.
Under the sun
There is a solution
Or there is none.
If there's a solution
Go and find it.
If there isn't
Never mind it.

Impossible Dream
To be human is to dream. Pipe dreams, daydreams of perfect love or a brilliant career - we all pay rent on castles in the air. But sometimes there's a dream that doesn't fade, an impossible dream that just might come true with the right breaks and a lot of hard work. Those are the dreams we'd be fools to give up on.

Holy Week - Maundy Thursday

The Bishop and his "apostles" as they prepare for the Washing of the Feet as part of the Holy Week celebration. The Washing of the Feet is a one of the reenactments to be made of the passion and death of Jesus Christ.

Le Petit Bonheur
Hope for the moment. There are times when it is hard to believe in the future, when we are temporarily just not brave enough. When this happens, concentrate on the present. Cultivate le petit bonheur (the little happiness) until courage returns. Look forward to the beauty of the next moment, the next hour, the promise of a good meal, sleep, a book, a movie, the likelihood that tonight the stars will shine. Sink roots into the present until the strength grows to think about tomorrow.

Sitting by the Sea

I was inspecting and photographing parts of this port when I saw this child sitting in a makeshift chair or an maybe an improvised anchor where ships could tie their vessels. He was seriously looking at several fishermen below hauling their catch. He was so intent in his observation of what some fishermen are doing.
In the place where he grew up, some children have to learn the trade of their fathers at a very young age to help survive their families. He was supposed to be in school, because it was a Friday when we went there, but he isn't. He is busy learning a fisherman's craft and maybe waiting for an opportunity to earn money helping the fishermen or even waiting for some spare fish to bring to his family.
Such is a sad sight us to see. The child, at his age, who should be learning and enjoying his childhood is learning a grown man's craft. We always consider education as an important thing for a child to have, but maybe for this child, his and his family's survival takes or a greater importance.

Fooling Others
It is easy to fool yourself. It is possible to fool the people you work for. It is more difficult to fool the people you work with. But it is almost impossible to fool the people who work under you.
