Kabuki Chick
Kabuki Chick, that's what I call her. She was a part of the mural painting or wallpaper at Bigby's in SM City Davao. I was intrigued because this slender lady with modern fashion sense hides behind a kabuki mask, a part of the traditional Japanese Theater costume.
I often wonder, why does she hide behind the mask? It is left to the viewers to wonder.
Masks represent disguises that of our physical or emotional selves.
What masks do you disguise yourself as?
Maybe we all wear masks to conceal some part of ourselves to hide what is undesirable in our eyes. The need to be wanted forces us to put on these masks. Hoping that someday we wouldn't have to wear it and that someone will want us in spite of ourselves.
