"Redeem" Team Wins
Last night, i watched the gold medal match of the Beijing Olympics Men's Basketball between U.S.A. and Spain. It was a thriller, I was on the edge of my seat most of the time because it was a very close match until the end. This was a basketball game, physical and emotional plays all over the court, unlike their first match that looked like an exhibition match.
Although i was rooting for the "Redeem" Team, i was looking for a great match and Spain gave it to them. I applaud Spain for their efforts, it showed that basketball is a team game, not just flashy moves. That game showed that, even though the U.S.A team won, they could be beaten by teamwork, especially in passing and rebounding. They couldn't dominate the game and they didn't improve on their teamwork. Although, there were many spectacular passes leading to spectacular shots, the U.S.A team fell prey to their individualistic style of play. You could see that over the course of the game, some of them would just like to make plays on their own to show their awesome set of individual talents.
The U.S.A Basketball Program should continue and prepare the next set of players to play in the 2012 London Olympics because the world has gotten better. They have "redeemed" themselves for now and the next important thing is that they should maintain it in the future.
