A Child's Laugh

So innocent, so carefree

dancing around all who hear

Sparkling, glittering is a child's laugh

unacquainted with pain

I hope we do not take that laugh away

a giggle here, a shout of joy there

by burdening life's most precious gifts

with the world's pain
